Brussels, the first month of 2026 is behind us!

And I’m so happy it’s not too cold right now (although, knock on wood, we don’t want to jinx it, right?!). It feels like Brussels is slowly but surely getting back to its usual rhythm. At least for me; I see more invitations to events than I can attend, and it’s only February! I’m especially choosing events where I can learn something new through their innovative format or audiences that I wouldn’t normally meet. So who knows, maybe I’ll see one of you around soon!

8 English comedy shows or clubs to lift your mood

It’s dark and cold outside. We still have at least a few more weeks of gloomy weather upon us. And I completely understand if you’re not your most cheery self during this time.

So why not call up you friends, get out of the house and visit one of the many English comedy shows in Brussels?

9 Asian restaurants to try in Brussels

OK, OK, I may or may not have a (major) Asian cuisine withdrawal. And it’s only been a little over a week since I’m back in Brussels (at the time of writing). But the truth is, Asian cuisine is my favourite cuisine in the world. And luckily, Brussels offers a huge selection of all kinds of restaurants from the Far East. So much so that my list of them on Google Maps is completely endless.

I could, obviously, share the entire list here, but email providers are punishing me if I include too many links in the email by cutting it. So I’m going to do what I do often, and that is - I’m going to share my personal picks, my personally vetted restaurants. And before you say anything, I know I am missing all the Korean places! That shall be my next mission 😎.

  • O Banh Mi (Etterbeek) - one of my favourite restaurants in Brussels and my most frequent order on Deliveroo, this Vietnamese place cooks de-li-cious beef bowls.

  • Hanoi Station (multiple locations) - found at Merode, Montgomery, and Wolf, this restaurant chain brings you the flavours of North Vietnam. I go to the branch at Merode (I have yet to discover the one at Montgomery), and love relishing their pho.

  • Banh Mi Express (multiple locations) - located at Rogier, Madou, Schuman, Place Luxembourg or Square de Meeûs, another Vietnamese place on the list serves hefty baguettes filled with meat/tofu and veggies. Not your ordinary Brussels sandwich.

  • Knees to Chin (multiple locations) - this chain restaurant is slowly, but surely taking over Brussels, with branches at St Catherine, St Boniface, Saint-Gilles, Bailli and (newly!) Merode. I live for their rice paper rolls, especially coco egg omelet.

  • Eaters (Wolf Food Market) - whenever I am at Wolf, there is always a new restaurant. But that’s not what I wanted to talk about. So, whenever I am at Wolf, I mostly go to this place as I adore their crispy chicken bowls. Also approved by my mom!

  • Takumi (multiple locations) - ramen fans should know this place very well already, with restaurants at Flagey, Jourdan, St Catherine (two of them) and Zaventem.

  • Maneki-Neko (Ixelles) - I’ve never actually been inside, but I ordered their sushi online and it was so yummy!

  • Wantany (Sablon) - nestled in one of the most beautiful streets in Brussels, Rue de Rollebeek, Wantany is a lovely little restaurant which serves ‘wantans’ (raviolis) - in a soup, steamed, or fried.

  • Better Than Hungry (Madou) - To be completely transparent, I went to this place only once back in 2020 for a date (the date ended up fine!). It’s very small, but I remember the staff being very nice and the food delicious. And my ex-colleagues used to go there a lot, so I think it’s still as good as it was then!
