Brussels, it starts to feel very autumny, doesn’t it?
Summer may be my favourite season, but after the heat and drought we had this year…I am somewhat ready for colourful leaves, sweater weather and cosying up with a hot beverage. And I’ve already seen chestnuts on the ground!
Speaking of beverages, my recent café and restaurant finds will all take you east of Belgium (just cuisine-wise, not geographically!). The first one is a Palestinian restaurant called Sabbar, just a short walk from Gare du Midi. The interior is so cute, and you can browse their wide selection of books. I only stopped by for a matcha latté, but definitely want to try their food next! LYN is a Lebanese restaurant that’s perfect for a quick and yummy lunch by Plux. You can get whatever you want on your plate for 18.5 EUR. And lastly, Drip cà phê - Coffee & Bánh mì brought me right back to my few days in Ho Chi Minh City earlier this year, with a coconut coffee and a really delicious bánh mì.

5 run clubs you can join today in Brussels
So, I am probably the last person who would join a run club 😅 🙈 I can sprint for a bus, y’all, but please, don’t ask me to do any long-distance for you. I can’t breathe; I can’t do it 😂. But I know that a lot of you are very eager and into running, which is why I’ve looked into what clubs you can join.
Matcha Run Club - one of my friends attends this one religiously every Sunday (as long as she’s in Brussels), and the group always ends up in a different café offering matcha. According to their Instagram, this club is for mindful and wholesome people.
Brussels Run Crew - probably the largest and most famous run club; it also presents itself as a social club that loves being together, building friendships, creating memories, and exploring the city. All genders, bodies, and ages are welcome to participate in weekly runs between 5 and 50 km.
Brussels Runners - is a social running group for anyone who would like to meet new people while being active outdoors. All levels are welcome, and the group runs several times a week; the meet-ups happen mostly in different Brussels parks.
Founders Running Club - this club is specifically targeted at entrepreneurs, professionals, and creators to meet, partner, collaborate, and support one another by uniting around running and spending time out. Runs are organised every Saturday morning.
BXL Girls Run Club - if you identify as a woman and prefer to run alongside fellow females, this club, running since 2024 (pun totally intended), is open to all levels. Every Sunday, the group runs 5 km and gets a coffee together in Bois de la Cambre.
4 affordable coworking spaces in Brussels
This is a huge topic, and not just for freelancers or workers without a physical office (I’m looking at you, one-person Brussels Public Affairs teams). I know that even employees with work-from-home policies look for these, but the classic, shared-office spaces usually gravitate around 200-250 EUR per month. And that’s not an investment everyone wants to make (I would rather spend this on working out, if you ask me). Here’s a list of four places that won’t break the bank.
Muntpunt (city centre; FREE) - this is still somehow a hidden gem to Brussels workers, but you can book a free desk in this beautiful, central library. If there are no places left, there’s a list of 10 other spots you can book on their website.
Commune libraries (multiple locations; FREE) - almost every library in your commune offers free coworking spaces; make sure you check beforehand whether you need to have a member card and whether it’s reservation-based or first-come, first-served.
Muski Comics Café (Place Jourdan; FREE) - I’ve already talked about this café before, where you can enjoy drinks, food, and a really fun comic book atmosphere. Plus, right next to the café, you can also use their free coworking space.
PHOS (Plasky; 7-25 EUR) - this cute corner coworking/café space offers 1-hour, 3-hour, and 10-hour packages, always including at least one drink of your choice, water, and snacks. And if you need any more convincing, the drinks are supplied by the Greek bakery Kapa, just opposite this coworking space.
If you are ready to commit to one of the more traditional coworking spaces, these have a free trial day: Garage CoWorking (Dailly); Hive5 (Merode); Betacowork (Petillon); Networks Forest (Forest-Midi); Silverquare (multiple locations); TOPOS (multiple locations); Wokr17 (Matongé).
